After long patient peaceful political struggle, the Saharawi people decided to get their legitimate rights through other means, this time they came to the conclusion that the armed struggle is the only language left to be understood.
The Polisario Front was then found as a unique representative and claimer of the wishes and rights of the people of western Sahara (Frente Popular de Liberacion de Sagya El Hamra y Rio de oro) as Polpular liberation Front of the Sagya El Hamra and Rio do Oro, the last two names refer to the two main provinces that made the Western Sahra mainland according to Spanish admnistrative territorial division.
The Polisario Front waged a war of guerrilla against the Spanish army until 1975 when Spain withdrew from Western Sahara. The war continued intensively against Morocco and Mauritania, the later illegal occupying forces.
Mauritania signed a piece agreement with the polisario Front renouncing its claims over the territory and later on recognized the Saharawi Republic founded in 1976.
Backed by France,Morocco persisted in its colonial policies, until 1991 when the UN brokered a cease-fire and called for the organisation of a referendum that allows the people of Western Sahara to choose freely thier fate after 16 years of bloody war.Morocco, has rejected all the peace plans proposed by the UN.The UN appeared terribly weak and complice to deal strongly with the Moroccan intransigence since France, the permanent SC member is preventing any step that puts pressure on Morocco to hounour its engagements, freely signed with the Polisario Front.
The international complicity with Morocco is only on the detriment of the Saharawi refugees who ilve in the Algerian desert refugees camps since 30 year, in one of the most inhospitable places of the world.It is also a danger on the region of North Africa and subsequently, a danger on the southern part of the EU and the EU as a whole.
The Polisario Front assumes its historical responsibilities to defend the legitimate rights of the saharwi poople by all means,resuming hostility will be no exception if Morocco persists in its intransigence and stubborness.

Western Sahara, is a country in North West Africa, it lost its freedom and independence in 1884 when put under Spanish control after the Berlin Colonial Conference in the same year. As a result of geopolitical and economic calculations, It was illegally handed over to Morocco in 1975. Backed by strong allies, Morocco bloodily invaded Western Sahara.The people of Western Sahara are since then struggling with abnegation and sacrifice to defend their freedom, dignity and independence.
